Limes are a very important ingredient for the delicious traditional Vietnamese food. They have been grown in the country for already hundreds of years for the special purpose of adding the subtle lime flavor to a wide variety of dishes. Large areas of seedless limes are grown in the Mekong Delta, where an abundant supply of fresh river water allows farmers to irrigate their farms and produce limes throughout the year.
After a lot of R&D work, we have successfully developed a year-round program of untreated limes. Untreated means that our GLOBALGAP certified limes are not treated after harvest with any wax or post-harvest fungicides.
This is very different from the large majority of limes which are currently sold in the European or North American markets: they are waxed and have a fungicide such as thiabendazole or imazalil incorporated in the wax to prevent decay. Instead, we have developed an innovative packaging concept, which enables our juicy limes to stay green and firm for a long period. Similar to our pomelos and other produce, our limes are sourced from our own contract farmers, who are supported by a large team of agronomists and quality control staff in the field on a daily basis.
