Last week Hong Kong was the centre of the Asian fresh produce sector for three busy days. The exhibition keeps on growing year on year. A few years ago the fair started out in one hall and this year the fair saw a 25% increase in space with the second hall being completely booked.
We also noticed a lot more visitors coming to the fair and a higher diversity of customers representing different markets and origins. Clearly the fair is growing in importance since the booming Asian consumer market, with China being the main accelerator, is becoming more and more important in global fresh produce trade. Other emerging consumer markets like Vietnam are also gaining a lot of interest from exporters since phyto-sanitary protocols are being established for a range of imported produce from different origins.
“We look back at a fruitful exhibition, we have been able to meet some of our customers, re-connect with former customers and gained a lot of interest from both customers that want to import from Vietnam but also suppliers that look to export to growing Vietnamese consumer market”, said Jeroen.
Next we will be attending the Fruit Attraction in Madrid, Spain, this coming October. This will be our first time we will be present at this exhibition. The fair in Madrid is well timed for us, because it is a month before we will start our loadings for x-mas and it will offer us an opportunity to review our past spring-summer season with our European customers and plan ahead for our 2018 season.
