TFR farmers switch to cover crops and mechanical weeding

10 August 2017

While in Europe there is a strong ongoing debate on the use of herbicides, especially Glyphosate, TFR and its contract farmers have decided to stop the use of herbicides on its farms.

After successful trials with cover crops and mechanical weeding, the contract farmers and TFR agronomists have concluded that the benefits from using alternatives for herbicides, outweigh the disadvantages. TFR offers its farmers a price incentive to adopt these more sustainable practices. Since this incentive and training program has been launched, all contract farmers have now stopped using herbicides.

We are very proud that our technical team was able to successfully support our contract farmers in this transition process.
